BAFTA nominee Oliver Parker has worked extensively as an actor and theatre and film director.  Beginning in television, Parker directed The Private Life of Samuel Pepys for the BBC starring Steve Coogan, Billingsgate starring Jim Broadbent and Copper Clive starring Steve Tomkinson. 

In 1995 Parker directed his acclaimed adaptation of Shakespeare’s Othello starring Laurence Fishburne and Kenneth Branagh for Castle Rock Entertainment.  He went on to work on the highly acclaimed box office hit An Ideal Husband which he adapted and directed.  Starring Cate Blanchett, Minnie Driver, Rupert Everett and Julianne Moore, the film was nominated for two Golden Globes and three BAFTAs.  

More recently Parker has adapted and directed The Importance of Being Ernest starring Rupert Everett, Judi Dench and Reese Witherspoon and Fade to Black starring Danny Huston, Christopher Walken and Diego Luna. 

As well as his extensive feature film credits, Parker has written and directed a number of short films including A Little Loving, a romantic comedy starring Helena Bonham Carter, the thriller Short Cut, and the comic fantasy Unsigned (all of which were bought and screened by Channel 4).
