OANA PELLEA as Rita (Children of Men)
Romanian actress Oana Pellea studied at the Romanian Theatre and Film Academy before going on to win numerous accolades for her stage and screen work.
Her film work has included Bogadan Dreyer’s Where the Sun is Cold as well as films directed by Alexandru Tatos, Dan Pita and Stere Guela. Pellea received a number of international awards for her leading role in State of Fact, including the Best Actress awards at the Geneva Film Festival, the San Marino Political Film Festival and the Golden Eagle International Film Festival in Georgia.
Her theatre work has also drawn much attention. Notable performances include the roles of Masha in Chekov’s Three Sisters, Lucius in Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar and Maria in Georg Buchner’s Woyzeck all of which contributed to her winning the 1996 International Theatre Critics’ Award for Best Actress and Best Romanian Actress in 2001.
Other important stage roles have included Juliette in Klaus Mann’s Mephisto, Catarina in Mihai Maniutiu’s production of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew and Drussila in Camus’ Caligula.
Able to speak Romanian, French, English and Italian, Pellea has participated in numerous multilingual productions including the French – Italian production of Joan of Arc.
Most recently her work has included Children of Men directed by Oscar nominated Alfonso Cuaron and Youth Without Youth directed by Francis Ford Coppola.
